Crystal clusters tie up your precious aspect shards, but you probably can make them already.A number of "stabilizer objects", try to start with at least 10 or a dozen.

When all items are absorbed, the central item will be transformed into the result.If an item is "imperfect", its absorption will fail, which will stall the ritual until the item is replaced or the ritual is aborted. When all the needed essentia has been absorbed, the altar will begin absorbing items from the surrounding pedestals.If they stop decreasing or ever increase, there is a problem. This shows the amounts of various essentia which are "owed" to the altar, which should decrease over time. Wearing Goggles of Revealing allows the player to see an essentia display above the Runic Matrix. The Altar will begin draining essentia.If the player doesn't have enough experience, the Altar will stay lit, but not proceed further. If the infusion involved costs experience levels, those will be taken from the (or any) player in the vicinity.The odds of such problems will increase over the course of the infusion. From this point onward, it is possible to have "instability effects" which can disrupt the ritual and even hurt the player. If the recipe is correct, the Altar will "light", and the special effects will start.If the wrong items are present, or needed items are missing, nothing will happen (but see "Item Perfection" below). When the process is started by right-clicking the Runic Matrix with a wand, it proceeds as follows: Jars of the required essentia are placed nearby (or later, an essentia mirror is set up). After building the Infusion Altar, the general procedure is to place the item ingredients of the recipe on pedestals around the altar, with the "target" item in the center pedestal.
Arcane Infusion is the "advanced course" in Thaumcraft's magic, by which players can build the most powerful items available.
